Courses

Self-paced online courses students work through on their own.

Open in Teachopolis

A course is a self-paced online course that students work through on their own. Courses work much like classes, with lessons, enrollment, and a public page, but they have no meeting schedule or location.

Class or course?

  • Class: you meet the group at set times, on site or online. Has a schedule and a location.
  • Course: students go at their own pace. Has optional start and end dates instead of a schedule.
Courses lists every course with its visibility, dates, and price.

Create a course

  1. Open Courses and click Create course.
  2. Enter a Title, Description, and Course details telling students what to expect.
  3. Optionally set a Start date and End date (see below).
  4. Under Storefront, choose Private or Public and set a price if you like.
  5. Tick lessons from your library to include, then click Create course.

Start and end dates

  • Before the start date, enrolled students can see the course but can't open its lessons yet.
  • After the end date, new enrollment closes.
  • Leave both blank for a course that's always open.

Manage a course

A course has the same tabs as a class, minus Schedule:

  • Details: title, description, visibility, price, dates, and lesson reveal in Course settings. New courses open with every lesson available; switch to Manual reveal there to release lessons one at a time.
  • Lessons: add, order, reveal, and copy lessons, exactly as for a class.
  • Enrollment: enroll students and send welcome emails when you're ready.
  • Messages: appears once there are emails linked to the course.
  • Marketing: course image, public page content, and a share link with QR code.

The steps are the same as for classes, so see Classes for the details of each tab.
