Lessons
Write lessons for classes, courses, and private students with text, media, and buttons.
Open in TeachopolisLessons are the rich content students read in class or course: text, images, video, audio, documents, and buttons. You create and edit them on each class or course Lessons tab, or on an individual student's profile Lessons tab (see Individuals).
Watch: build a lesson
Lessons on a class or course
- Open a class or course and go to the Lessons tab. Click Create lesson to write a new one for that class or course only.
- Use Copy from another class or course to duplicate lessons you already built elsewhere. Copies are independent—you can edit them without changing the original.
- Drag the up and down arrows to reorder lessons.
- With Manual reveal, use Reveal to show or hide each lesson for students in real time.
- Click a lesson title or the pencil icon to edit it.
Create a lesson
- On the Lessons tab, click Create lesson.
- Enter a Title, for example “Week 3: Strumming patterns”.
- Write the lesson in the editor (see below).
- Click Preview to check it, then Create lesson.
Using the editor
Hover over any toolbar button to see its name. The toolbar has:
- Undo and Redo.
- Text styles: bold, italic, underline, highlight (yellow, green, blue, or pink), uppercase, lowercase, and clear formatting.
- Link and Unlink. Links can point to a web page or a document.
- Paragraphs and headings, bullet and numbered lists, and blockquotes.
- Text alignment.
- Horizontal rules, line breaks, tables, and 2- or 3-column layouts. Columns stack on phones.
- Find and replace.
- Media: Image, Video, Audio, Doc, and Button.
Hover over a block to show its handle: drag it to reorder, use the arrows to move it up or down, or delete it.
Images, video, audio, and documents
- Each media block lets you upload a new file or Choose from library. Uploads are saved to your Library.
- Images can be aligned left, center, right, or full width. Add alt text for accessibility.
- Video blocks take an uploaded video or a YouTube or Vimeo link, which plays inside the lesson.
- Documents (PDF or DOCX) appear with an Open button.
Buttons
A button block is a large, colored link (dark, terracotta, green, or gold) to a web page or document. Select some text before clicking Button to use it as the label.
Preview
Click Preview to see the lesson exactly as students will. Click Back to editor to keep editing; nothing is lost.
Edit a lesson
Open a lesson from the Lessons tab and click Save lesson when you’re done.
Lessons for individual students
One-on-one lessons are managed on the student's profile (My People → Students → Lessons), not from Classes. Use Create lesson and the lesson list there; link lessons to dates on their Schedule tab. See Individuals.
Remove or delete a lesson
On a class or course, Remove from class (or course) takes the lesson off that class or course. To delete the lesson entirely, open it from the Lessons tab and use delete on the edit page.
